Emily McCarthy, age 85 of Perth Amboy, died on Friday at Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy. She was born in Perth Amboy and had resided in Staten Island, NY and Woodbridge, before moving back to Perth Amboy in 1962.

Emily was a teacher for 26 years at the Samuel E. Shull School in Perth Amboy before retiring in 1972. She was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1942 and graduated from Georgian Court University in 1946 with a BA Degree. She was a also member of the University Alumni Association.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's RC Church in Perth Amboy and a member of the Altar Rosary Society at the church. She was also a member of the Perth Amboy Women's Club since 1946.

She was predeceased by her husband, John J. "Mac" McCarthy, Jr. who died in August of 2004, whom she married in 1950, her parents, John and Florence Quinn and her brother, John J Quinn who died in 1992.
