Obituary

Eloise A. Newton, 78, of Edison, passed away on February 2, 2025, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was born in Perth Amboy on August 9, 1946 to Allan and Ruth LaRue.  Eloise graduated from Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1964. She was a church secretary for over 40 years at 3 different churches, not all of them Lutheran. Throughout the years she served as an assistant minister, a Stephen Minister, on Council as the congregational secretary, and attended weekly Bible studies. As her sons entered Boy Scouts, Eloise volunteered in many roles for over 20 years and in 1997, was bestowed the Silver Beaver award. Honoring and sharing her heritage, Eloise served as secretary for the local Danish Sisterhood and Brotherhood Lodges and on the Board of Directors for the Danish Home in Edison. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with the family and friends.

Eloise is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard Newton, of Edison; three sons, Richard Newton Jr., and his wife Patricia, of Middlesex; Glenn Newton, and his wife Anirish, of Hopelawn, and Rev. Dale Newton, and his wife, Realyn, of Selden, NY; two grandchildren, Cassandra and Theodore; and a sister, Marilynn Koubek, of St. John, FL.

Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840, on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Services will begin on Saturday 9:15am at the funeral home, followed by a 10am Funeral Service at St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Plainfield. Interment will be in Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephens Church.
