Elizabeth "Betty" (Egan) Syring, 90, of Marlboro Twp, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at her home. Born in Perth Amboy, formerly of Fords, Edison and Clayton, CA, she has resided in Marlboro since 1982.
She graduated in 1939 from St. Mary's High School in Perth Amboy and received her Associates Degree from Mt. Diablo College in Concord, California in 1980.
She was a member of the Fords Women's Club, was currently a member of St. Clement's Church and Altar Rosary Society in Marlboro, and was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, and former member of the OLP School PTA. She was a homemaker for many years and later worked as a dental assistant.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Harry A. Syring, Sr. who died in 2008, her grandson, John P. Soporowski, Jr., her sisters, Jeanne Dunham, Gertrude Mayer, Joanne Handerhan, her brother, John R. Egan, Jr., and her parents, the former Woodbridge Twp. Chief of Police, John R. Egan and Gertrude Egan.
She leaves behind her daughter, Elizabeth A. Soporowski and her husband, John of Old Bridge, her 3 sons, Harry A. Syring, Jr of Windsor Locks, CT, David P. Syring, Sr. and his wife Margaret of Branchburg, and Kenneth B. Syring, Sr. and his wife, Antoinette, of Lagos, Nigeria, her 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, her brother, Robert Egan of PA, and her devoted caregiver, Nadia Rozvaga.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 8:15 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863, followed by a 9:15 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
