Elinor (Ellie) Bergin, 93, of South Plainfield, passed away peacefully at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick on December 10, 2021. She was born on February 12, 1928, in Newark, New Jersey. She was loved and cherished by her family, friends and all of those whose lives she touched. Her large family meant the world to her. Elinor resided in Iselin for 48 years before moving to South Plainfield. She worked at Auto Trix in Raway and at Fortunoff's in Woodbridge for many years before retiring. She had a strong love for cooking and baking and was also an expert seamstress who volunteered countless hours making colorful pillowcases for children in the hospital. (Case for Smiles)
Elinor was also an avid walker up until she could no longer do so.
Elinor was predeceased by her loving husband, William Bergin (1985) and her daughter, Linda Kenney (1999).
Elinor is survived by her loving children, William Bergin Jr., Patrice Bergin, Tim Bergin, Pam Boon and Carol Buck. She is a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were handled privately under the direction of Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ.
Memorial Mass will be held in Elinor's honor Thursday, December 16
