Eleanor Marie Hynes (née McGuirk), 100, of Edison, NJ, went home to be with our Lord on Friday, June 10, 2022, which would have been her 78
th
wedding anniversary. Eleanor, the daughter of Irish immigrants, Kate (Costello) and Bernard McGuirk, was born in Jersey City, NJ on April 2, 1922. She fervently embodied the values of faith, family, hard work, and friendship that her parents instilled in her. After graduating from St. Michael's High School in Union City, Eleanor worked as a bookkeeper at RCA.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Francis Hynes, brother Bernard McGuirk, and three sisters Catherine Brahney, Leticia Boucher, and Peggy McCarthy. She is survived by her sons Robert, Jr. (MaryBeth), Terence (Kathryn), Brendan (Audrey), and Walter (Lisa); daughter Maryellen Adams (Dennis); grandchildren Margaret, Robert III, Thomas, Brigid, Brendan, Shaylyn, Meaghan, Patrick, Samantha, Tara, Brenna, Kristen (David), Sean, Patricia (Damian), Dennis (Allison), Colleen, and Katie; and great grandchildren William, Ryan, Aidan, and Ainsley, along with many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her best friend of 94 years, Edna (Stine) Kearney.
Eleanor loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was passionate about praying the rosary, writing poetry, enjoying walks, and watching her beloved NY Yankees. She was the epitome of elegance, class, and grace, and lived her life with extraordinary strength and an unwavering faith in God. She was loved, admired, and adored by all who were blessed to spend, time with her.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave, Fords, NJ. Funeral services will begin on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 10 am from the funeral home with a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords followed by interment at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway, NJ.
