Elaine Grace Hoffer (nee: Hogya) passed suddenly at her home on Friday, May 14, 2021. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, she had resided in Edison for the last 52 years.
Elaine was an accomplished pianist and organist, who brought music into the lives of hundreds of eager young and adult students and their families. She was also an avid student of the "Suzuki Method," as well as traditional methods of teaching. She taught organ and piano for over 60 years and gave the gift of her love of music back by volunteering as her church organist and choir accompanist at Our Lady of Hungary Church in Perth Amboy and for the Children's, Adult's, Traveling & Hungarian Groups and as a volunteer instructor for the NJ Chapter of the Visually Handicapped in Middlesex County.
She was also a past Sodality Prefect of OLH, a former May Crowner, and member of the Altar Rosary Society and Hungarian Catholic Women's Club. She was currently a communicant of St Helena's RC Church in Edison, and a member of the Altar Rosary Society at the church.
Elaine wrote and directed many of the fund raising productions at OLH; she was the recipient of "What Brotherhood Means to Me" Award.
She loved and shared hobbies of all sorts, including; crafting, writing, and crocheting with lifelong friends.
Elaine's career in accounting included employment by W. R. Grace & Co., Chemical Division, as Assistant Comptroller and Personnel Director, and was retired from Able Laboratories, Inc. in Cranbury, NJ in 2005, as Human Resources Director. Afterwards she pursued, along with her husband, their lifelong dream of being loving and supportive "hands on" grandparents.
Upon graduating from Perth Amboy High school, she received the "Accounting Award of Excellence," with the caption under her name reading "Future in Accounting and Music" and with the help of God and her loving family, Elaine was able to accomplish both.
Elaine, was predeceased by her beloved husband, John "Jim" Hoffer, who died in 2011, her parents, Bertalon and Grace Hogya and her three brothers; Bernard J. "Rex" Hogya, Joseph J Hogya and Ernest William Hogya.
She leaves behind and was the proud mother of Sharon D. Hoffer of Franklin Park, NJ, and Christine M. Molinaro of Whitehouse Station; mother-in-law of Rick Molinaro; and grandma to the loves of her life and her piano prodigies, her grandson and # 1 Super Hero, Matthew John Molinaro and granddaughter "Honeybee" Kate Ann Molinaro. She is also survived by and was the proud aunt to many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863, from 3 pm to 7 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 9:15 am from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 10 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Helena's RC Church in Edison. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Hungary Cemetery, Fords.
