Elaine J. Henning (Hill) died a beautiful death on April 12, 2024 at her home in Edison, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Newark, NJ, Mrs. Henning devoted her life to her family after high school, enjoying being a mother of 5, then a grandmother of 13, then a great-grandmother of 4. She also worked for Gund, a job she adored.

Mrs. Henning was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Edison, where she enjoyed helping others in whatever way she could, especially volunteering with Sunday School. She loved gardening and needlework, creating many beautiful images over the years.

Mrs. Henning was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, William G. Henning, her parents, Earl and Julia Hill, and her brothers, Earl and John Hill. Surviving are her beloved children Margaret Barbour and husband, Bruce, of Edison, Barbara Schlessinger and husband, James, of Asbury, William Jr. of Manville, Kathleen Merwin and husband, Mark, of Belle Mead, and Timothy and wife, Christine, of North Brunswick; cherished grandchildren Kailynn Nordstrom and wife Valerie, Devin Barbour, Shaun Barbour and wife Dana, Emily Schlessinger, Alena Schlessinger, Krystal Henning, Bryan Henning, Sarah Merwin, Morgan Henning, Ryan Henning, Cheyenne Henning, Casey Henning, and Lauren Henning; adored great-grandchildren Landon Nordstrom, Lena Nordstrom, Peyton Barbour, and Averie Barbour; and several other family members.

She will truly be missed by all who loved and adored her.

Mrs. Henning will be buried next to her dear late husband William in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Edison or the Alzheimer's Association of New Jersey.
