Edwin J. Gadek, 73, of Edison entered into eternal rest Tuesday, August 30, 2011, at the JFK Medical Center in Edison.
He was born in Perth Amboy and lived in Edison his entire life. He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School and attended Fairleigh Dickenson University. Edwin was an Electrician with Local #358 in Perth Amboy for 43 years where he served as an officer before retiring in 1999.
Edwin was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords, an Army veteran, and served as a fireman and past chief of Engine Co #2 in Edison. He was a life member of the NRA and a member of the Double "O," the Sunrise, and Brookside Rod and Gun Clubs. He was an avid fisherman and hunter throughout the Country, and a member of the N.J. State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation and a member of its executive board. Edwin took great pride and enjoyment in building, remodeling, and landscaping his home and other family members homes and was also an accomplished artist.
Edwin is predeceased by his son, Edwin John Gadek in 1969, and his siblings, Dr. Raymond Gadek and Helen Gadek. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Lucas Gadek, to whom he was married for 48 years; his children, Craig Edwin Gadek of Edison, Matthew Peter Gadek of Oxford, and Nicole Anne McDonald and her husband James of Forest Grove PA; and his four grandchildren: J. Edwin, Anna Eleanor, Mary Helen, and Peter Charles Mc Donald.
Funeral services will be held on
Friday, September 2, 2011, at 10:00 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church. Interment will follow in Cloverleaf Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.
