Obituary of Edwin C. Deffler


Edwin C. Deffler, 91, of Milford PA, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his home. Mr. Deffler was born in Camden to the late George and the Isdora Deffler and had previously lived in Fords before moving to Milford PA. twenty two years ago.

Mr. Deffler was a US Coast Guard Veteran of Korean war.

He was employed as a firefighter with the Fords Fire Department, Fords NJ. for twenty five years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Magyar "Hungarian" Reformed Church, Perth Amboy, NJ., The Fords Fire Company #1, serving as Chief in 1970 and member of the United Exempt Fireman's Association of Keasbey, Fords and Hopelawn.

Ed was predeceased by his wife Margaret last week, three sons Jeffrey, Christopher and Edwin, a brother John "Sam " Deffler and a sister Jane Deffler.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie Sue Deffler of Middlesex, NJ, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2/2/23,Thursday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Hopelawn. Visitation hours will be held Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to your local Humane Society.
