Edward Wirkowski, 95, of Naples, FL, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Feb 9 ^th surrounded by loving family.

He was born on February 14, 1925, in Newark, NJ, to Michael and Mary Wirkijowski. Ed graduated from Westside H.S. Newark and at age 19 earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering (NJIT). He is a Veteran of WWII, who served on the Manhattan Project in Oakridge, Tenn.

Ed worked at the Chevron Refinery in Perth Amboy, NJ, serving in various Engineering and Management positions during his 39-year career. After Chevron he maintained and managed the Clean Harbors Oil Spill COOP for New York Harbor for the next 12 years before finally retiring.

Ed liked watching high school sports, spending summers at his shore house on Long Beach Island and winters in Naples with family and friends. When not at the beach, Ed traveled the world with Ruth, his wife of 50 years, and later with Theresa Watson, his loving companion for the last 12 yrs.

Edward is predeceased by his wife, Ruth, and daughter, Joanne; parents Mary and Michael; and sister, Doris Rokosz.

He is survived by his loving companion, Theresa Watson, sons, John Craig and daughter–in-law Sandra, of St John, IN; and James and daughter-in-law Barbara, of Edison, NJ; brother Theodore; four grandchildren: Jaimie (Charles Alyanakian), Christopher, Joseph and Katherine (Patrick O'Brien); and two great grandchildren, Olivia O'Brien and Charles Alyanakian.

Visitation will be at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ, 08840 on Monday, February 15, 2021, 4-8 pm.

Funeral Services will begin Tuesday 9:45 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen.

Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
