Obituary

Edward R. Perdue, Jr., passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011, with his family at his side, after courageously battling a rare, incurable illness. He was 80 years old. Calling hours will be Monday, September 19, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM and Tuesday, from 9:00-11:00 AM at Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, Rev. Peter Sanfilippo of Reformed Church of Metuchen officiating at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Ed's final resting place will be at Hillside Cemetery, Metuchen.

Born in Piscatawaytown (Dunellen), raised in Metuchen, Ed went on to raise his three children in the Bonhamtown section of Edison. A graduate of Metuchen High, Ed received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps. and the U.S. Navy. Retiring after a lifelong career as an Oil Burner Service Tech, Ed spent his time doing what he loved most: being a Father, Grandfather, gardening, traveling, and helping others. Ed always had a kind word, a great sense of humor, and found the positive in things.

Ed was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice F. Manziano, stepfather Costen A. (Gus) Manziano, and his beloved sister, Elaine Perdue DiCampli. Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory his three beloved children: daughter Suzanne L. Flesch and son-in-law Robert of Edison; son, Francis (Frank) Edward Perdue at home; and daughter Barbara J. Robertson and son-in-law Thomas of Edison; Ed's pride and joys: grandsons Stephen T. Robertson and Christopher M. Robertson of Edison. Also surviving are his brother, Philip W. Manziano of Monroe Township, NJ and Ed's longtime companion, Elinor Latta of Tuckerton, as well as eight nieces, seven nephews, two great-nieces, and four great-nephews. Ed also leaves countless dear friends. He touched so many lives.
