Edward "Eddie"
Joseph Delaney
April 21, 1959 – April 28, 2023
Edward "Eddie" J. Delaney passed away peacefully at his home in the early morning hours of Friday, April 28, 2023.
Eddie was born in Metuchen, and was a lifelong resident. A craftsman by trade, he worked as a carpenter and painter throughout his life. After retiring se veral years ago, he has spent his time traveling the East Coast, the beaches of New Jersey and South Carolina. He loved body surfing, boating, fishing, live music, and going for walks at Asbury Park and Sandy Hook. Some of his favorite memories include driving with his family onto Island Beach State Park and go kart racing in Wildwood. In recent years he's spent his time doing home projects and could be spotted maintaining the lawn every day. He was always friendly, striking up conversations everywhere he went. His greatest role was being a father, caring for his four kids and always planning their next adventure. His simple pleasures included Fosters, lottery tickets, and telling stories on the porch.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Mary Stephens Delaney. He leaves behind his loving wife of almost 30 years, Kathleen; his four children: Skylar of SC, Taylor of Metuchen, John of MA, Kaitlyn of Metuchen; his brother and best friend Brian Delaney and wife Karen; his brother Kevin Delaney; and his three sisters: Colleen Lazar and husband Joe, Ellen Melanson and husband Paul, and Sister Miriam Elias, as well as many nieces and nephews.
His wild stories and memory will remain with us always.
