Edward J. Guarnieri, 78, of Edison, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, October 12, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 3, 1946, in Perth Amboy, NJ, he had been a resident of Edison for more than 35 years. Edward graduated from Perth Amboy Vocational Technical High School and proudly served in the Air National Guard of New Jersey and the United States Air Force Reserves.
He was a retired firefighter with the Edison Township Fire Department, where he dedicated 22 years of service. Edward was also a member of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen.
A talented self-made man, he built his own home in 1983 for his family. He was an expert carpenter, master craftsman, and general foreman.
Edward was an avid hunter and fisherman, actively involved in many hunting and fishing clubs. He enjoyed hunting and fishing across the United States and Canada.
He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Bernice Guarnieri, and his brother, Thomas Guarnieri.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosanne Guarnieri; his daughter, Gina Alcaide, and her husband, Rodolfo, of Edison; his son, Edward C. Guarnieri, and his wife, Jill, of Metuchen; four cherished grandchildren, Liliana, Joseph, Emily, and Nickolas; and his brother, Louis Guarnieri.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 5 PM to 8 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM from Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by a 10:15 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ 08840.
Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery on Oregon Avenue, off New Brunswick Avenue, Fords, NJ.
