Edna C. Harkay (nee: Christensen), 86, passed away on July 18, 2013 at St. Joseph's Senior's Home in Woodbridge.
She was born in South Ozone Park, NY and resided in Fords for most of her life. Edna was employed by Woodbridge Township as a librarian at the Fords Library for 26 years, retiring in 1990.
She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid Society of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, the Danish Sisterhood, Woman's Club of Fords, Fords-Keasbey Senior Citizens Club and numerous other community organizations
Edna was predeceased by her husband James in 1983 and her brother Roy. Surviving are her son, James Daniel Harkay and his wife Dara of Edison, and her daughter, Ellen Harkay Brey and her husband Bill of Ft. Collins, CO. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Timothy, Hannah, Julianne and Emily; her sisters: Norma Erceg, and Joy Billich and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday July 20, 2013 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, 120 Pleasant Ave., Edison. Cremation will be private. Viewing will be Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords. The Woman's club of Fords will offer a prayer service at 3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church.
