Obituary

Edith "Edie" Eustice , 92 of Edison, passed away on January 13, 2022, at Brighton Gardens Senior Living, Edison. She was born in Griggstown, New Jersey and has resided for the past 5 years in Edison.

She is predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Linzer Bachmann and father Joseph Linzer, her husband, Laurence Eustice, brother Thomas Linzer, Joseph Linzer and sister Joan Linzer.

Surviving is Edie's brother Irwin Linzer, daughter Cindy and her husband Jeff Welstead , son David Eustice and his wife Lynn, grandchildren Sandy Weingarten (Sissy), Jim Hendley and Lee Eustice. Edie has also great grandchildren, Bryan, Kaylee and Danica.

Edie had a full life, besides being a wonderful mom and grandma, she was so much more. Growing up during the depression she was unable to complete her schooling. After marrying Laurence Eustice in 1957 and having two children, she decided to go back to school when her children were still in high school. Edie went to full time night school at JFK, in Iselin. Completing 9 – 12 grade in four years. Then she continued on to graduate from Kean College, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was so very proud of that.

The rest of her life she spent giving back to the community. Edie was a lover and patriot of the arts. She did so much to help the careers and ambitions of musician, poets and artists alike. Edie was a recipient of many awards for her work in promoting the arts.

She was a co-founder of Poets Wednesday at the Barron Arts Center which was a place where well known and fresh starting poets can gather to share their works and ideas.

She was an avid reader with a huge collection of books that she was always willing to share. Edie loved to cook. She would forever be inviting guests over for great homecooked meals and wonderful conversation.

Edie was so quick to make new friends, she would light up a room when she walked in. Her door was always open to lend an ear or have a great party which would always have some form of live music performed by her many musician friends.

Besides being all of the above, she had a wicked sense of humor. She would have a joke for any possible topic. And not just your basic ha, ha joke. Her jokes would have you laughing your butt off.

She was all this and so very much more. An amazing woman from the beginning to the end. She will be truly missed by many.
