Edith Friedman Berkow 90 of Monroe Township entered into eternal rest, Wednesday September 18, 2013 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Old Bridge. She was born in Bradley Beach and is formerly of Metuchen, and Perth Amboy, before moving to Monroe 13 years ago.
Edie was a member of Temple Sholom in Bridgewater and was a member of many charitable organizations. She was a Charter Member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and of the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged. She was a Life Member and past president of Hadassah and served on the Women's Division of the Greater Middlesex County Jewish Federation.
She was an accomplished pianist and taught piano and music lessons for many years. Edie was also the rehearsal accompanist for the Temple Neve Shalom choir in Metuchen.
Edie was predeceased by her husband Dr. Bori Berkow in 2000. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Wuensch and her husband Jack of Mahwah, NJ, her son Randy Berkow and his wife Andrea of Bridgewater, and two grandchildren Rachel, and Alex and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday September 22, 2013 at 11 am at Temple Sholom 594 N. Bridge Street, Bridgewater. Interment will follow in Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 23 Ford Avenue, Fords.
