Obituary

Edith Baumann passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden Saturday July 19, 2014.
Born in Hanover, Germany, she arrived in the United States at the age of five. After a brief stay in Newark, her family moved to Irvington, where they spent the next ten years before moving to Maplewood. While attending high school in Irvington, she met her best friend, Bill, who she married in 1945. They returned to Irvington where they had one son, Bill. Spending twenty plus years in Irvington, and being involved in little league baseball and scouting, the family moved to Garwood in 1972.
After a brief stay in Garwood, they moved to Woodbridge in 1975, where she remained until her passing.
Her first employment was for Bell Telephone in Union as a telephone operator. She then worked many years for Hahne's Dept. Store in Newark and then Macy's in Menlo Park in the gift wrap dept. until she retired in 2011.
She was an avid collector of Hummel figurines and a member of the
M I Hummel club. For thirty years, she enjoyed playing cards, eating out, watching NASCAR races, Florida and playing slot machines especially at Parx Casino. Knitting was yet another one of her cherished hobbies.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1986; surviving is her son Bill, a brother Horst and his wife Dolores, several nieces and nephews and, most importantly, her dear and devoted friends.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM on Thursday July 24, 2014 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation is Wednesday 6-9 PM.
