Douglas Odolecki, 78, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away on March 12, 2024, at Granstrand Medical Center. Doug was born and raised in Perth Amboy, NJ and was a longtime resident of Hopelawn, NJ, before moving to Myrtle Beach 7 years ago.
Doug was a graduate of Alliance College, Cambridge Springs, PA. He worked as the Chief Operating Officer for K. Hovnanian, Red Bank, NJ and Najarian Associates, Eatontown, NJ. After retirement from the corporate world, Doug went on to work as a Park Ranger for Middlesex County, NJ, until 2016. The active guy he was, once he "retired" to Myrtle Beach, he became Game Announcer for travel softball games at the Ripkin Experience. Doug served his country proudly in the Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea. He was a member and former Commander of the Fords VFW, Post #6090 Fords, NJ. Doug's biggest passion was fishing and boating and he received his Captain's License, chartering his prized boat, the Five O's. Doug ran several marathons, including the Jersey Shore McMarathon and Disney World Marathon.
Doug is survived by his wife of 56 years, Theresa "Terry" (Hareslak) Odolecki, his high school sweetheart; his children: Douglas Odolecki II and his wife, Monica Ramirez; Cheryn Bolasci and her husband, Scott; and Heather Palatucci and her husband, Brian; and his eight grandchildren: Christina, Alex, Nicholas, Layna, Naia, Serene, Leo and Eleanor. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen (Teliszewski) Odolecki; father, Theodore Odolecki; and brother, Theodore Odolecki II.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ, followed by an 10:30 AM funeral service. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Iselin.
