Dorothy Elizabeth Blanchard Varanay, 93, of Edison, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Easton Hospital, Easton, PA. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith (Jensen) Blanchard. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in Fords and was a graduate of Woodbridge High School. She was employed by General Cable, Perth Amboy, until her retirement. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Fords, and the Edison Senior Citizens Club. Every year from 1958 to 2009 she and her husband, Victor, traveled to many places throughout the world to attend the national reunion of the 4th U.S. Marine Division.
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Victor L. Varanay, and her brother Irvin Blanchard. She is survived by a brother, Allan Blanchard and his wife Jean Cali of Ship Bottom, a sister-in-law Virginia Blanchard of Hollidaysburg, PA, and her nephews, Mark and Charles, and nieces, Susan and Michelle.
Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 28 S. Fourth St., Fords. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy. Visitation will be Tuesday morning 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM only at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.
