Dorothy Steinsapir, 100 yrs, of Metuchen, NJ, passed peacefully at the home of her daughter in New York City on Friday, February 6, 2026.
Born in Bronx, NY, she resided in Metuchen for the last 63 years.

She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, and received her bachelors degree from Douglass College and her masters degree from Seton Hall University.

She retired in 2014 after 40 years as an associate professor of  the Accounting Dept.  at Middlesex County  College in Edison, NJ.

She was a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Neve Shalom in Metuchen and the League of Women Voters.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved  husband Morris Steinsapir, who died in October of 1982, and her parents Morris and Fanny Cohen

She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Susan Steinsapir of New York City and Gail Schultz of Denver, CO.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Marissa Melander and Melanie Schultz, and her great-grandchildren, Sela and Adam.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026,  at 11:30 a.m. at the Beth Israel Memorial Park Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ 07095. Friends and relatives may meet the funeral procession at the Cemetery Administration Building prior to the services.

Shiva will be observed at the family residence in Metuchen.
