Obituary

Dorothy Walsh Schimpf was born in Carteret on March 7, 1924 to George and Eva (Zuro) Walsh. "Dottie" was a bundle of energy, volunteering her time to benefit the lives of others.

A child star, Dottie sang and tap danced on CBS Radio in New York, and appeared in USO shows during WW II. She was a partner in the dance team, Dot & Dash.

She graduated Perth Amboy High School in May 1942, and went to work for the General Cable Company and Reynolds Department Store. Responding to a need, she joined the family business, Amboy Feed & Grain Company, and diversified the business, adding a garden center and a floral shop, Flowers by Dottie.

Dottie was active in the Knights of Columbus Auxilary, the American Irish Assn. and St. Mary's Altar Rosary and Senior Programs. She organized senior bus trips for St. Mary's Church. Dorothy was predeceased by both parents and her loving husband of 31 years, Frank Schimpf. She is survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home 424 East Avenue followed by a 10 am funeral liturgy at St. Mary's church. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday 6-8 pm.
