Obituary

Dorothy (Palisi) Mandica, of Edison, died Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Edison. Born in Perth Amboy July 23, 1920, she was a resident of Metuchen before moving to the veterans home with her husband. Dorothy was secretary to the Guidance Director at Perth Amboy High School for 35 years before retiring. She graduated from the Most Holy Rosary School in Perth Amboy and Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1938. In 1942, she married Anthony L. Mandica as he entered the Navy during WW II. Dorothy was a former member of Holy Rosary Church and Communicant of St. Francis Cathedral. She was an active fundraiser for Deborah Hospital and volunteer at Raritan Bay Medical Center. She was also active as a friend of the Metuchen Library.

Dorothy was predeceased by her sister, Frances Catelli. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Tony Mandica; her daughter Dorothy Winhold of Metuchen; three grandchildren: Mark Mandica and wife Crystal, Jason Winhold and wife Tracy, and Jill Winhold and husband David Degatano; two great-grandsons: Anthony L. Mandica II, and Chase Mandica; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at 9:45AM from Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:15AM at St. Francis Cathedral. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 1, 2012, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ.
