Dorothy Ann
Jerome
December 27, 1932 – March 30, 2025
Dorothy (Kommer) Jerome, of Edison, passed away of natural causes on Sunday March 30th, 2025, at the age of 92.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late Elsie Conran (Kommer) and Henry Kommer.
Born in Elizabeth, she spent 52 years in Menlo Park Terrace NJ where she built a beautiful home with her husband, Joseph V. Jerome, who predeceased her in 1998. Dorothy gave birth to four wonderful children: Diana Madison, Laura Torstrup, Joanne Slickers (who predeceased Dorothy in 2002) and Jason Jerome (his wife Maryann).
Dorothy was a hard worker who was proud of her long career as a Manager with Kagan-Dixon Wire Corporation in Iselin, NJ.
As a child she loved going to the movies with her mom and her first job was an usher in a theater. As a young adult she expressed herself singing, writing poetry and through art. Throughout her life she was an avid reader and read several books a month. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was very wise. At 92 she was still smart as a whip.
Family meant everything to her. We loved hearing her sing in the kitchen, loved seeing her tend to her roses, loved her cooking, and enjoyed the many holidays she hosted.
Lately her favorite activity going for car rides, lunches and watching videos of family members especially seeing videos of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren included Bree Madison, Keeley Madison, Alison (Slickers) Earvase (and her husband Dennis), James Torstrup (and his wife Kim), Evan Jerome (and his wife Sarah) and Brian Jerome (and his wife Ashley) and Dorothy's great-grandchildren Dexter, Elliot, Lily, Owen and Matthew.
Her family will miss her dearly but finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her daughter Joanne and husband Joseph. Services are private by Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, Fords, NJ
