Obituary

Dorothea Joseph Regan, born April 10, 1925, in Ridgewood, New York, died May 1, 2012, at home at the age of 87. She was the daughter of Emil Joseph and Sabina Hardt Joseph. She was a working mother both at home and at Montgomery Ward, Morris Stores, and Franco Manufacturing.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her only sibling, Robert Emil Joseph. She was married for 52 years to George A. Regan who passed from this earth on November 8, 1998. Dorothea is survived by two sons: Patrick (Carolyn) Regan of Milton, WV, and George (Carol) Regan of Weatherby Lake, MO; two daughters: Ann (Paul) Jean of Edison, NJ, and Dorothy (Chuck Windeknecht) Regan of Pelham, NY; and her four grandchildren: Christopher Regan of Missouri, Danielle Regan of Brooklyn, and Sean Regan and Matthew Regan of West Virginia. In her latest years, she has been faithfully attended to by her daughters, Ann and Dorothy; her granddaughter, Danielle; and a special friend, Trish Holmes. She was a strong woman and a mostly quiet warrior. Dorothea was a parishioner of the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Metuchen from 1950 to present.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 3, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, NJ 08840. Funeral services will begin on Friday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 am Funeral Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, One Meridian Road, Suite 5, Eatontown, NJ 07724. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
