Donald P. Whitehead, 83, of Edison died September 10, 2010, at Tate Chesapeake Hospice House in Linthicum, Maryland.
Born in Jersey City on August 19, 1927, he resided in Edison for the past 55 years. Mr. Whitehead attended Rutgers University and Fordham University, graduating in 1957 and 1973, respectively. He worked at Rutgers University in the Accounting Department from 1950-1958. While there, he operated accounting and business machines. He was later employed by ITT in NYC where he became the Director of Information Technology and was instrumental in transitioning their accounting and business procedures to computer operations. He retired from ITT in 1988. Mr. Whitehead was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a former Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 53 BSA in Fords.
Mr. Whitehead is predeceased by his brother, Bruce K. Whitehead. Surviving family members include his wife Ann (O'Donnell) to whom he was married for 60 years; 3 sons: Donald and his wife Patricia of Bayville; Kevin and his wife Pat of Bridgewater; and Brian and his wife Donna of Key West, FL, and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 10:00 AM from FLYNN AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. Entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
