Donald John Gallant, 68, of Edison, passed peacefully, with his family at his side, on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the RWJ University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.  He was born in Orange NJ, was formerly of St. Petersburg, FL ,he had resided in Edison for the last 38 years.

Donald proudly served his country in the US Navy during the evacuation of the Vietnam War.  He retired in 2021 as a Construction Safety Engineer with Haztek, Inc. in Medford, NJ. He had also been employed as a Land Surveyor with Robert H. Wetzel of Rahway, NJ

He is predeceased by his parents, Norman and Loretta Gallant, his brothers, Norman and Richard Gallant, his sister, Diane Stewart, and "mother-in-law" Loretta Reedy.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Mary Podlaski Gallant, of Edison, and his three beloved sons, Donald J Gallant and his wife Jenna of Randolph NJ Michael Gallant and his wife Erica of Millstone, NJ, and Steven Gallant and his wife Lauren of Edison, NJ his two cherished grandchildren, Nathan and Michael Gallant, Jr. and his brothers Dennis and David Gallant and his sisters, Janine and Michele Gallant and his 'father-in-law" John Reedy and a numerous amount of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Donald John Gallant's Life will take place on Sunday, May 19 2024 at The American Legion Post, 43 Oakland Ave, Edison, NJ 08817

We will be holding short services for family between 12pm-1pm (services to begin at 12:15pm), but invite all other loved ones to pay respects between 1pm-4pm.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords.

If desired contributions may be made in Don's memory to the Parc Center for Disabilities in St Petersburg, FL or to the Special Olympics.
