Donald Alena, 76, of Edison, passed away on April 9, 2020, at his home.  He was born in Perth Amboy on November 29, 1943.  Donald had resided in Edison for 55 years. He retired as a Transport Driver for Sunoco after 37 years. Donald was a communicant of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Woodbridge Knights of Columbus Council 857. He was also the Past Faithful Navigator of Reverend John J. Griffin Assembly.

He loved NASCAR, Football and Bowling.  He bowled with the Woodbridge Knights of Columbus Thursday night league for over 40 years. He also enjoyed playing cards whether it was poker with friends or card games with the grandchildren.

He was a kind and loving person who will be missed by family and friends. He will be remembered for the smile he always had on his face.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, John and Caroline Alena, and his son-in-law, Stephen Czachor.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Alena, of Edison; two daughters, Debbie Czachor, of Edison, and Dawn Cruz, and her husband, Hector of Fords; a son, Donald Alena Jr., of Edison; five grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, Justin Cruz, Hector Cruz and Stephanie Bonilla; great-grandchildren: Isaiah, Gabriel, Avery and Caleb; a sister, Carol Bennett, and her husband Earl, of Fords; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
