Domenica
Debari
September 15, 1930 – April 7, 2022
Domenica DeBari, 91, of Fords, died Thursday April 7, 2022.
Born in Union City to the late Pasquale DeNora and Theresa DeNora, Domenica earned her high school diploma from Holy Family Catholic School in Union City. She briefly attended Drake College, but decided being a homemaker and taking care of her family is what made her happy. Domenica was a very strong-willed woman who enjoyed raising her grandson, Will, and teaching him the right way to do things. She was the peacemaker of her family.
Domenica is predeceased by her husband, Patrick DeBari; her aunt, Carmela Tafuno; and more recently her most cherished grandson, Will Cooper in 2020. She is survived by her daughter, Fran Cooper and husband, Bill; her son, Joe DeBari; her sister Marie Sullivan and husband, Don; her nieces, Cecilia Sullivan and Theresa Sullivan; her cousin Frank Tafuno; her favorite grand-cat Ms. P; along with many other extended family and dear friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue Fords, NJ 08863. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Peace Church, 620 Amboy Ave, Edison, NJ 08837, starting at 10:30 a.m. on Monday. Entombment will be held at Bergen Crest Cemetery in Union City following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dominica's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
A Eulogy from Fran
Domenica DeBari was a beloved grandmother and mother, and an expert homemaker to her husband Pat and her two children, Fran and Joe. She was like a second mother to her son-in-law, Bill. She also devoted her life to her grandson, Will, starting from the day he was born in 1988.
Domenica lived her adult life in Union City until she got married and moved to Carteret, New Jersey. Minnie, as she came to be called, focused her entire life on taking care of others, especially her family. When it came to her grandson, Will, she made everyday fun while her daughter Fran was at work. Whether it was taking Will bowling, to Chuck E Cheese, or out to dinner - the adventure always started in a yellow cab! Will and his Grandma had a special connection. But her ability to care and look out for others didn't stop with Will- her baked chicken was like no other and she always had a meal ready for her family.
We pray for Domenica to have a peaceful transition into heaven and to be with the Lord.
