Dieter Walter Plaessmann, 81, of Edison, entered into eternal rest July 12, 2017, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Hanau, Germany and had resided in Edison for the past 52 years.

He was a Tool and Die Maker with Phillips Company in Edison for 10 years before retiring in 1995.

He faithfully served his country while stationed in Korea.

Dieter was a member of the Edison Seniors and the Loyalty Lodge #33 F & AM.

He was predeceased by his wife, Helga M. Marx Plaessmann, in 2003; his daughter, Karen Plaessmann, in 2012; and siblings, Gisela Brandenberger and Carl H. Plaessmann.

Dieter is survived by his daughter, Sylvia Mika and her husband, Don, of Jackson; two grandchildren, Sara and Michael; great-grandson, Xavier; and his siblings, Hiltrud Wahl of Edison and Fritz Plaessmann of Edison.

Visitation is Friday, July 14, 2017, from 7 to 9 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Avenue, Metuchen, with a funeral service at 8:30 pm with Rev Leah Dunlap-Emmis officiating.
