Devanand "Lloyd" Mahabir (70) of Fords passed away suddenly on July 7, 2021.

Born on March 9, 1951, in East Berbice, Guyana, Lloyd was one of seven children born to the late Ramsaroop and Melis Mahabir. In 1973, Lloyd migrated to Queens, New York, where he began his new journey. He eventually married and had four beautiful children. During this time, Lloyd went on to own his own grocery store and later became an operator of the printing press where he mastered the art of color matching in offset printing. He retired in 2010 after 30 years of service.

Since early childhood Lloyd was an avid Cricket fan. He loved watching the West Indies team play, and most recently, he couldn't miss watching the Caribbean Premier Cricket League.

Anyone who knew Lloyd knew that there was only one thing he loved more than Cricket and that was his beloved family. His days revolved around taking care of his children and grandchildren. He was a loving grandfather that spent his days enjoying his grandchildren and making sure they were always happy. While he was a man of few words, Lloyd never missed an opportunity to tell his children and grandchildren how much he loved them. They were truly the greatest joy of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eldest sister, and his beloved Birdie.

Lloyd is survived by his children: Nita (Waqar), Patricia (Bobby), Sunita and Andrew; his grandchildren: Emma, Ayan, Eric and Amir; his former spouse, Sandra; his brother, Ralph; his sisters: Elsie, Lovelyn, Rita and Mummy; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a gathering in Celebration of Life on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Flynn & Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Funeral Services will start at 11:30 AM. Graveside will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ.
