Delia Llizo, 99, of Edison, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, just twenty days shy of her one hundreth birthday.
Born on February 24, 1918, and raised in Havana, Cuba, Delia was a school teacher, before hastily having to leave behind her father, her siblings, her career, and all her possessions, to flee communism. She and her young family fled to America, before settling in Edison in 1965.
A devout Seventh Day Adventist, she was a co-founder of the local "Iglesia Hispanic de Edison".
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bedo, who died February 15, 1989.
Delia leaves behind, her two beloved sons, Ruben and his wife, LuAnn, of Edison and Nestor and his wife Shirley of Silver Lake, Kansas, her beloved granddaughter, Delia and her grandniece and grandnephew, Rebecca and Joseph Ossorio.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 2 to 5 pm at the Iglesia Hispanic de Edison, Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2195 Woodbridge Ave. Edison, NJ 08817.
Funeral services will take place on Monday, February 12, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the church, followed by interment in Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
