Deacon Edward G. Rodes, of Fords, passed away suddenly on July 26, 2026. He was born in Brooklyn on July 3, 1958. Ed was a graduate of Grady High School, Class of 1976, and a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s Seminary in Morristown. Ed was a Bus Operator for NYC Transit. He loved spending time with friends and family. Ed was an avid NY Rangers and Mets fan.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Eleanor Rodes and a brother, Daniel Rodes.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Theresa Rodes, of Philadelphia; two sons, Robert Rodes, and his wife, Alexia, of Woodbridge, and Michael Rodes, and his wife, Rachael, of Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Amelia Small Rodes; a brother, Thomas Rodes, and his wife, Theresa, of Point Pleasant; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 2-8 pm at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Thursday, 10:15 am at the funeral home followed by an 11 am Funeral Liturgy at Holy Rosary Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Cremation is private.

Memorial contributions in Deacon Ed’s name may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
