Obituary

Daniel Santoro, 87, of Edison died March 7, 2012, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Port Reading, he has resided in Perth Amboy and spent the last 44 years in Edison.

He was a self-employed Master Carpenter and belonged to Local 65 Carpenter's union. He was a communicant of Holy Rosary Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, a member of the Edison American Legion and was a participant in the Battle of the Bulge. Daniel loved to cook and was a devoted family man. His family was the most important thing to him including his dogs, Reggie, Frostie, Bella, and Gunther.

Mr. Santoro was predeceased by his brother, Matthew and his sister, Marion. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rita (nee Cannamela); his 4 daughters: Constance Santoro-Stanley and her husband Gerald of Battle Creek, MI, Rosalie Santoro of North Brunswick, Gina Thomas of Manalapan, and Annette Austin and her husband, James, of Manalapan; 6 grandchildren: Joseph, Daniel, Vincent, Matthew, Danielle, and Julianne; his sisters, Marie Daidone of Morristown, Francis Pellegrino of FL, Josephine Battiloro of Edison, and Mildred Ciuffreda of Iselin; and his brother Charles Santoro and sister-in-law Francis of PA.

Funeral services will be on Monday, March 12, 2012, at 10:30 am at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords, NJ 08863 followed by an 11:00 am Funeral Liturgy at Holy Rosary Church. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 11, from 2-5 pm.
