Colleen Maria O'Brien, 31, of Metuchen passed away on December 23, 2021, at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Born in Perth Amboy, Colleen was raised in Edison and currently living in Metuchen. Colleen was a graduate of Edison High School, class of 2008.
"Tiny," as she was known by her closest friends and family, was a server and bartender at Hailey's Harp & Pub since 2013. She adored children and was a loving mother to her fur babies, Bruce and Mouse. She was a small girl with a huge heart who loved WWE, trips to the beach, flamingos, and unsolicited cat pictures. Although she was "tiny," she had a powerful voice and sang beautifully when no one was watching. She captured treasured moments others would typically overlook. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and affection as well as a library of corny jokes that remind us all to find joy, smiles, and wonder in the little things--perhaps the most important things--as we make our way through this world.
Colleen is survived by her father, Kevin F. O'Brien; her father's loving wife, Marie O'Brien; her stepmother Guadalupe "Cely" O'Brien; her boyfriend, Sean Van Zile; her sisters, Shannon O'Brien, Stephanie Varela, Arela Rivas, and Josie Grant; her brothers, Jonathan Varela, Patrick Horan, and Michael Rivera.
A memorial visitation from 6 PM to 8 PM will be held Monday, January 31, 2022 at Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM.
