Clifford H. Friis, 72, of Fords entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Haven Hospice at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Cliff was born in Perth Amboy and lived most of his life in Fords. He was a Fireman in the Perth Amboy Fire Department for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1994. He was a veteran of the Marines, a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy, and a member of the Perth Amboy Exempt Firemen's Assn. Cliff enjoyed cooking and catering and did it passionately for the church, the seniors, family, and friends. He always made himself available to help his friends and neighbors running errands or giving them rides to various appointments.
Cliff is survived by Dorothy R. Knudson Friis, his wife of 49 years; his two daughters: Karen L. Johnson of Hillsboro, and Wendy A. D'Armiento of Yardley, PA; his three grandsons: Erik, Christopher, and Zackary; his step-brother, Robert Lutz of Venice, FL; his sister-in-law, Doris Friis of Sewaren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2011, at 11:00 am at the Grace Lutheran Church, 600 New Brunswick Avenue, Perth Amboy. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 27, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. Members of the Perth Amboy Fire Department will pay their respects on Sunday at 7:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Grace Lutheran Church.
