Obituary

Christina C. Taylor, 80, of Plainfield, NJ passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2025. She was born March 18, 1944, at Camp Mackall Military Base in NC. Tina was a graduate of East High School in Auburn, NY, Class of 1962 and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, Class of 1973. She was the founder, owner and director of The School of Contemporary Dance and Theater in South Plainfield, NJ. She was also a teacher at St. Peter's School in New Brunswick, NJ and later at The Sundance School in North Plainfield, NJ.

Tina was a remarkable dancer and choreographer who, through her dance school, passed on her passion for dance and theater to hundreds of children who benefitted from her knowledge and experience. She was also an accomplished actress, singer and dancer performing lead roles such as Anita in West Side Story, Irene in Irene and Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie among many, many others. Unsurpassed as a choreographer, she worked on hundreds of shows in her many years of creating dance routines for community and high school productions throughout NJ.

In addition to her dance school and community theater involvement, she will be forever remembered for her dedication to bringing arts-integrated education to The Sundance School for over two decades. She created their Stage Program and her legacy lives on in the original lessons, characters, scripts, dances, costumes and choreography still used today.

To say that Tina was a beautiful, vivacious, generous, sincere, empathetic and loving wife, mother and grandmother who would help anyone in need would be an understatement. She cared deeply for others, loved big and continues to be a role model to those that knew her. She has left the world a better place for all.

Tina was predeceased by her sister Cindy Conners. She is survived by the love of her life and husband of 60 years, Kenneth R. Taylor of Plainfield; two daughters, Wendy Graham and her husband Jeff of Edison, NJ, and Jennifer Taylor of Portland, OR; two grandchildren, Dylan and McKenna; and a brother Michael Casey of Safety Harbor, FL.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 1-3pm at the Flynn & Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840.
