Charles E. Thomas, 97, of Edison, passed away on September 8, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Perth Amboy and has resided in Edison since 1957. Charles was a Control Operator for 42 years with Public Service Electric and Gas Power House, retiring in 1980. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords, a member of the Clara Barton Senior Social Club and Clara Barton Democratic Club, an honorary member of American Legion Post 324 and also an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved gardening.
Charles was predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 2010. Surviving are his children, Gary of Edison, Robert and his wife Joyce of Shrewsbury and Diane of Edison. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Robert Jr., Stephanie, and Brittany; and his great–grandchildren, Zachary, Alyssa, Brianna, and Cody.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 AM, September 11, 2014, at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, with a 9:00 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
