Charles Thomas Loftus, 90, of Manasquan entered into eternal rest September 4, 2021 at Shorrock Gardens, in Brick. Born in Philadelphia to Thomas Loftus and Anna Thompson, Charles raised his Family with his wife, Joan in Metuchen for 35 years before relocating to Manasquan in 1997.
Charles was the Director of Financial Aid at Rutgers University before retiring in 1986.
He faithfully served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.
Charles was an avid gardener, cook and a kind and gentle father, husband and friend. He was an
informal member of the "over the rail gang" in Manasquan for many years and was known and loved by many.
Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years Joan Wilbert Loftus, his children Wayne Thomas Loftus of Manasquan, Christine Feinholz of Pahoa, Hawaii, Joni Squillaro and her husband Alphonse of Metuchen, grandchildren Justine and Danielle Squillaro, and Marie Lowman, and great grandchildren Leila and Phoenix.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 10, 2021 at 9:45 am at the Flynn and Son/ Koyen Funeral Home 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen followed by a 10:15 am Liturgy at St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen. Interment will follow in Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway. Visitation is Thursday Sept 9, 2021 from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.
