Catherine (Novak) Spencer, 103, of Hillsborough, passed peacefully at the Bridgeway Care and Rehab Center in Hillsborough, on Saturday, September 14, 2013.

She was born in South Amboy, had resided most of her life in Fords, before moving to the Plainfield area in 1986.

She was retired from Ashland Chemical Co. Edison.

She was a championship tennis player at her local club.

Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward, who died in 1987, and her grandson, Thomas.

She leaves behind her dear son, John E. (Lorraine) Spencer of Orlando, FL; her six devoted grandchildren: John T. Spencer of Orlando, FL, Joan (Donald) Lamastra of Scotch Plains, Nancy (Marc) Angelone of Hillsborough, Mark Spencer of Scotch Plains, Jacqueline (Dewayne) Hurdle of Roselle Park, and Janet Spencer of Paramus; her 8 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 10 a.m. from the Flynn & son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords, NJ 08863, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, South Amboy.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m.
