Casimir Piegdon, 85, of Edison, passed away on September 11, 2026. He was born in Perth Amboy on August 7, 1941. Casimir was a retired lieutenant with the Edison Fire Department. He was a graduate of Perth Amboy High School, Class of 1959. Casimir was a communicant of Good Shepherd Parish and a member of the Good Shepherd Seniors.

Cas was a huge fan of the NY Giants and would not miss watching a single game; no matter where he was, he would find a TV to watch. He was very proud of his years in the fire department. All those who worked with him could attest to his passion for food: he would wake up early and plan dinner while cooking breakfast. He loved to frequent his favorite restaurants: Sciortino’s Harbor Lights, Harold’s, and, at the top of his list, Keyport Fishery. Among his other favorites, Cas loved the beach and going fishing in his boat, which later became known as the “USS Never-Sail” because he wouldn’t go out if he thought there was even a small possibility of wind or rain. In his later years, he became an expert on Netflix content; once he learned how to search for shows and movies, it became his new hobby.

Everyone knew Cas as the jokester and endless complainer! Those who knew him well can attest that Cas wouldn’t enjoy a conversation unless he had an audience willing to listen to him complain about anything and everything, from township and world politics to the restaurant that stopped serving large portions, because that was how he measured the quality of the place.

Casimir was predeceased by his sister, Mary Ann Reso.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Landi Piegdon, of Edison; his son, Kevin Piegdon, of Edison; his daughter, Darlene Gomez, and her husband, Alvaro, of Edison; and his grandson, Matteo.

Visitation will be Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 4–7 p.m. at the Flynn and Son/Mitruska Funeral Home - 23 Ford Ave, Fords, NJ 08863. Funeral services will begin Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at Good Shepherd Parish – 625 Florida Grove Rd, Hopelawn, NJ 08861. Cremation is private.
