Carolyn Lyons, 91, of Whiting, passed peacefully in her sleep, at her home on Thursday, October 24, 2013.
She was born in South Amboy, lived most of her life in Fords, and has resided in Whiting for the last 15 years.
She retired from the Human Resources Department at Supermarkets General in Woodbridge.
She was a former communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Fords.
She was past president of the Clara Barton Little League, an avid reader, and enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City as well as spending time with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband John "Jack" Lyons, who died in 1984. And her son Richard Lyons.
She leaves behind her son, John "Jack" Lyons and his wife, Jane of Lexington, SC, her 2 daughters, Patricia Farkas and her husband, John of Columbus, NJ, and Kathleen Russen of Whiting, her 7 grandchildren, John Jr., Kelly, Lisa, James, Kristie, Cindy and Carrie, and 7 great grandchildren, John III, Nicholas, Geoffrey, William, Ryan, Delaney, and Jeffrey, her 2 sisters, Margie Balzano of Belford and Ann Byrne of Staten Island, NY and her brother, Joseph Murray of South Carolina.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10 a.m. from the Flynn & son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy, at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords, Interment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery Colonia.
Visitation will be on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
