Carol A. O’Donnell (nee Stroka), 72, of Carteret, died Sunday July 26, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway. Born in Bayonne, Carol was a resident of Carteret since her childhood and was a Communicant of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church. She was a Registered Nurse for 50 years, spending her entire career at Rahway Hospital. She retired in 2022.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Antoinette (nee Sorrano) Stroka; her daughter, Jennifer Zimnicki; and her husband, James O’Donnell, Jr., who died in 2018.

Carol is survived by three daughters: Kelly Nascimento and her husband, Michael, of Waretown; Jill Levine and her husband, Doug, of South Plainfield; and Erin Roberts and her husband, Chris, of Barnegat; and her son, Jimmy O’Donnell and his wife, Caren, of Hamilton. She is also survived by her brothers: John Stroka and his wife, Kim; Thomas Stroka and his wife, Rose; and Richard Stroka and his wife, Laura. Carol is also survived by her 10 grandchildren: Michael, Joey, Johnny, Samantha, J.J., Ryan, Kaitlyn, Allison, Christopher, Reese; and many nieces and nephews.

Outside of work, Carol found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved attending Concerts in the Park, spending Sundays watching football with her friends, and enjoying the company of those she loved. Her warm smile, generous heart, and caring spirit made everyone around her feel welcomed and loved.
