Carol Ann Leitner, 78, died peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2023.

Carol was born and raised in Perth Amboy to the late Paul Sohayda Sr. and Margaret Vargo Sohayda. She was a 1962 Woodbridge High School graduate and a longtime Woodbridge resident. She married Michael S. Leitner Jr. in 1964. Carol was employed as a bus driver for many years all over Woodbridge Township and was also an administrative assistant for many years before retiring. In her free time, Carol enjoyed going to the beach, feeling the warm sun on her face as she listened to her favorite music. She enjoyed being apart of her community and was a councilwoman for her ward in Woodbridge.

Carol is predeceased by her parents and brother, Paul Sohayda Jr. She is survived by her son, Michael S. Leitner III and his wife, Breann, of Jackson, NJ; her daughter, Lisa Leitner of Hudson, FL; her beloved grandchildren, John A. Lesko and his wife, Layla, of England; Jessica Leitner, Michael S. Leitner IV, and Samantha Leitner, of Jackson; her great-grandchildren, Carter and Annistyn Lesko; her long time close friends, Karen Lukacs Machalaba and Jack Burke.

Visitation and cremation was held privately. Memorial donations may be offered in Carols name to The Wounded Warrior Project.
