Carol (Shumny) Hmieleski, 67, of Carteret, passed away on June 28, 2017 at ManorCare Health Services in Mountainside. Born in Perth Amboy, Carol was a life-long resident of Carteret.  She was a graduate of Rider University with a Duel Teaching Certificate.  Carol was employed by Turtle and Hughes, Linden for 7 years as a bookkeeper, she also worked for Herman's Sporting Goods, Carteret as an accounts payable supervisor.

She was predeceased by her son RJ Shumny (2008), and an infant child.

Carol is survived by her sisters, Donna Klepacki and her husband Thomas of MA and Nancy Reibis and husband Phil of Monroe; a daughter-in-law, Lissettte Shumny of Sayreville; three grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew and Casey; a niece, Michelle Teglia and husband Anthony and two grandnephews of Ringwood.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11 AM from Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen. Interment will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Assumption Catholic School Technology Fund, 380 Meredith St., Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
