Carmen Maria Rios Acevedo, 86, of Perth Amboy, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021. She was born on February 25, 1935, at Garrochales, Arecibo, Puerto Rico, to her parents, Ramon Gabriel Rios and Maria Acevedo Rios.

Carmen married Ernesto Melendez Rios, on February 19, 1955, in Puerto Rico. She and Ernesto moved to Perth Amboy, New Jersey in 1956. Where they resided until their passing.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ernesto Melendez Rios; her parents, Ramon Rios Gabriel and Maria Acevedo Rios; her sisters, Elizabeth Figueroa, and Generosa Rios; and her brothers Carmelo Rios, and Roberto Rios.

Carmen is survived by her 6 children: Ernesto Rios, Enox Rios, Ivan Rios, Rene Rios, Amelia Rios and Victor Rios; her 10 grandchildren: Enox J Rios, Carmencita J Taveras, Ivan Rios, Jr, Hector Nunez, Alexis Nunez, Rosita Nunez, Jennifer Marie Alexander, Jessica Nicole Wagner, Raquel Rios, and Andrea Rios; 20 great-grandchildren; her brother, Bienvenido Rios; 2 her sisters, Laura Rios and Carmen Rosa Cepero; and many nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 10:30 am - 1:30 pm at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Avenue, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.  Entombment will follow at 2:00 pm in St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge.
