Carmen Mercado, 85, of Perth Amboy passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy.

A native of San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, she had resided in Perth Amboy for the last 64 years.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lorenzo, who died in December of 2003, and her parents Bautista Velez and Concepcion Marquez and her beloved grandson, Ivan.

Carmen leaves behind her three sons; Luis of Perth Amboy and Hector of Aguadilla, PR and Edgardo of Perth Amboy, and her daughter Maribel Fontes of Perth Amboy, 2 grandchildren; Luis, Jr. and Melissa , 5 great grandchildren; Diego, Luis, Abigail, Jaylen and Tyson, her sister Gladys Torres of NC, and her 5 brothers; Rev. Ramon Velez, Angel Velez, Nicolas Velaz, Jose Luis Velez, and Domingo Velez.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 5 pm to 9 pm, at the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 424 East Ave. Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.

Funeral services will begin on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. from the Flynn and Son Funeral Home, followed by interment in Alpine Cemetery, Perth Amboy.
