Carmela Gangemi, 79, of, Edison passed peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Haven Hospice unit at JFK Medical Center in Edison .
Born in Oppido, Calabria, Italy, she has resided in Edison for the last 45 years.
She was a member of St. Helena's Church in Edison for 45 years.
Carmela was a wonderful cook, enjoyed shopping and spending time with her beloved husband, children and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Libero Stefano Gangemi, who died in 2011.
Carmela leaves behind her daughters, Annette Ferrer and her husband, Steve of Edison, and Maria Carey and her husband Daniel of Far Hills, her son, Steven Gangemi and his wife, Denise of Woodbridge, her 8 grandchildren, Michelle, Steven, Michael, Danielle, Andrew, Sean, Stefano, and Gabriella and her 4 great grandchildren, Logan, Aubrey, Michael and Nina.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. from the Flynn and son/ Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave. Metuchen, NJ 08840, followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Helena's Church, Edison. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude's Garden Mausoleum, Colonia.

Visiting hours will be on Tuesday morning only, from 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
