Carmel "Millie" Fitzhenry, 89, of Edison, passed away on January 7, 2019,at Edison Estates, Edison.  Millie was born in Bayonne to Gaetano and Rose Venezia.  Millie was a resident of Edison for 49 years.  She attended Jersey City State Teacher's College where she received a Bachelor's degree. Millie was a Teacher for the Edison Board of Education for 30 years.  She was a volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary at J.F.K. Hospital, Edison and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Raritan Yacht Club, Perth Amboy.  Millie was a voracious reader and enjoyed cooking, crafts, and decorating for the holidays.  Above all,  Millie cherished time with her grandchildren and family.

Millie was predeceased by her brothers, Dominick, Nicholas and Salvatore Venezia.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence J. Fitzhenry, to whom she was married to for 60 years; her sons, David Fitzhenry and daughter-in-law Anne; and Doug Fitzhenry; her two grandchildren, Jack and Emma; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Venezia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Flynn and Son / Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen.  Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.  Friends and relatives are invited to visit from 9 to 11 AM.
