Byju Thomas, 66, of Edison, NJ, passed rather unexpectedly on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

He was born in Kerala, India and immigrated to the United States in 1993, settling in Edison, NJ.

He received his Masters in Commerce degree while living in India.

He brought his passion and warmth to the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center’s Patient Finance department, where he worked for 29 years before retiring in February of this year.

He was a devout communicant of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords, NJ.

He enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling.

He was predeceased by his beloved father, Mathew Thomas.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Philis Thomas, his two daughters, Tintu and Mintu Thomas, and son-in-law, Amir. He also leaves behind his beloved mother, Lisiamma Thomas, and his brothers, along with his niece and nephews living in India.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 21, 2026, from 6 pm to 9 pm, at the

Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave. Fords, NJ 08863.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 10 a.m. from

the Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, followed by a 10:30 a.m.

Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church in Fords.

Interment will follow in Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway, NJ.
