Bertha Sperber Rush, 80, of Metuchen, passed away at home on January 16, 2014. She was born, June 23, 1933, in New York City. Bertha resided in Metuchen for 55 years; she was a homemaker. Bertha was a communicant of St. Francis Cathedral in Metuchen and a member of the Deutscher Club in Clark. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Lothar Sperber, in 1992.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Rush, of Metuchen; four children: Lothar Sperber and his wife, Sue, of Metuchen; John Sperber and his wife, Arlene, of Edison; Heidi Egan and her husband, Tom, of Colonia; and Judy Soltys and her husband, Michael, of Metuchen; seven grandchildren: Kathy, Nicki, Kristine, Kelly, Jimmy, Samantha, and Christopher; and one great-grandchild, Kaila.

Visitation will be Monday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Flynn and Son/Koyen Funeral Home, 319 Amboy Ave., Metuchen, NJ 08840. Funeral services will begin Tuesday 9:30 am at the funeral home, followed by a 10:15 am Funeral Liturgy at St Francis Cathedral. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen.
